Those of you who think FSU got screwed, are you betting your paycheck on them winning against any of the 4 teams in the playoffs? I’m not.

What does that have to do with anything? Just picking teams is antithetical to what sports are supposed to be. The Rangers choked away the division in their last game of the regular season, why didn't we just put the Astros and the Dodgers in the World Series? Why have a regular season at all?

TCU ruined it for everyone. Nobody wants another “frog” in the final 4.

Watching that fsu game was brutal. Horrible horrible horrible offenses. Gruesome. Nobody wanted to watch that team get pummeled on New Year’s Day. Plus you give up a spot. Last year was milk toast and this year does not appear to be milk toast with who will be fighting it out for the crown.

Good news is you got a villian in the final 4. A cheater in the final 4. Cinderella and the Heisman Trophy winner in the final 4. A rags to riches story in the final 4. It’s absolutely delicious!

1. You cannot leave the best conference out of the playoffs.
2. You cannot piss off the religious football south. Could you imagine the boycott and disruption in the streets if you leave out of the core that drives your entire sport.

3. Louisville with their porn star mustache quarterback looked awful. They were soft soft soft. Running out of bounds instead of absorbing the hit. Leaving 3rd and 2 followed by tragic punt.  Louisville overrated fsu the product of bad happenings late.

4. This will expedite fsu’s exit out of the ACC. SEC gets bids the ACC does not.
5. Alabama’s ability to get in the playoff ensures big boys will continue to play the beasts and not substitute Texas for Delta State. You CAN recover from an early season fall down.
6. Great for CUSA - Chadwell is awesome! Aggieland hello!

Fun season ahead.
GMG

But TCU won their semifinal, so even though they got destroyed in the final they obviously deserved to be in the final four.

Florida State's defense would have prevented them from being blown out by anyone.

If we want to talk about challenging yourself in the OOC...FSU went 2-0 against the SEC this year.

That’s not the point.  The point is that they did everything asked of them…they won every game they played.

Sure it is. The best 4 teams should be in the playoffs. I believe they are. That said, I’m really glad they’re expanding the playoffs next year.

Your opinion of who’s the best is doesn’t mean they’re the best.

SEC being the best conference is another opinion.  I doubt I’ll do the research to disprove it, but if you look at head to head competition against other conferences, the SEC doesn’t dominate.  But since when does head to head competition matter?

It varies from year to year.  I would think that over the past 15 years, the SEC has easily been the best conference, at least at the top.  I've heard the pundits generally say the PAC 12 is the best this year.

I agree that it varies from year to year and I don’t dispute that the SEC has generally been the best over the past 15 years.  I just get beat down by all the people who act like the SEC is so far and above all the other conferences.

No, they’re not.

I’d lay $100 on Georgia to beat any of the teams not named Alabama or Michigan if they played today.

FSU getting left out is complete B.S.  Alabama doesn’t deserve to be there this year. They beat a bad USF by 14, lost at home by 10 to UT, beat A&M by six, a terrible Arkansas team by 3 and a bad Auburn, that was beaten at home by New Mexico St, team by three. They caught lightening in a bottle yesterday and don’t deserve a spot over an unbeaten FSU that shut down a top twenty offense and won with a true freshman/third string QB yesterday.

That true freshman was QB 8/21 passing for 55 yards against Louisville. The guy the week prior was 12/25 passing for 134 yards. If anybody actually believes FSU is one of the 4 best teams right now, I have a beach front property in Kansas to sell you. They're supposed to put in the 4 best teams, not the 4 most deserving.

Yet they somehow managed to win those games. Their last two games were an in-state rivalry (bad team but still) and #14 in a conference championship game.

So you’re advocating basing it on opinion rather than on field results?  Seems ridiculous to me, but I guess the committee agrees.

Against a 5-7 Florida and a Louisville squad that lost to 7-5 Kentucky and 3-9 Pitt.

Have you seen their defensive stats? They held the top scoring offense in the country (LSU at 46 ppg) to 24. They held those last two opponents to 6 and 15. In fact, no one has scored more than 24 in their last 10 games and 29 was the most given up all year. For the season, 16 ppg average. That’s elite.

I know we don’t understand this here anymore but there is more than one way to win that big offensive numbers. (Btw they averaged around 37 ppg on offense.)

What can you tell me about that Auburn juggernaut that Alabama beat in miraculous fashion last week.

All I know about them is that they beat Cal (yes, the Cal that most on this board say is terrible) by 4 points.  And that was with Cal getting absolutely screwed on a scoop and score TD.

No, it should be expanded to 20 teams. The top 2 from each conference. That said, if you're going to say the 4 best right now, you can't put in FSU.

Their defense is elite. Their offense is not the one that put up 37 ppg. Their current offense hasn't scored a passing touchdown in 2 games, hasn't completed 50% of their passes in each of the past 2 games, has 4 total offensive touchdowns in the past 2 games, has averaged about 220 total yards of offense the past 2 games, and so on. There's absolutely zero way FSU in their current state is one of the 4 best teams.

Rivalry games are always weird. Alabama beat the number 1 team in the country who was on a 29 game winning streak and had won the previous 2 national championships. They're a stronger team than Florida State right now. And speaking of barely squeaking by a weak Auburn, FSU beat 6-6 Boston College by 2 with Jordan Travis.

Plain and simple Texas lost to Houston except for extremely questionable calls. I’m sure the powers that be did what they could to keep Texas afloat.

Reminds me of when the refs gifted them the win over us too.

Part of the time-honored tradition of referees screwing other teams to the benefit of Texas.

Having watched FSU - Boston College, I can tell you FSU was not better. We're talking 18 penalties on BC to 5 on FSU. After that game, I was never sold on FSU.

Zero issue with Florida State being left out. Nobody was upset when an undefeated UCF got left out and nobody is upset that an undefeated Liberty is left out. It's about time an undefeated "P5" champion gets left out. Let those who think they're superior take a hit for once and feel how the "G5" feel.

Totally agree.

FSU isn't even weak.  Their defense is legit.  The vaunted Michigan defense gave up more yards to a offensively challenged Iowa than the 'Noles did to a Louisville team that put up 30+ points a game.

It was current FSU vs current Bama.   Bama is stronger, thus FSU is out of luck.   Sucks to be like UCF a few years ago, undefeated and no respect....welcome to G5 FSU!!
