I think we try and keep Stone Earle no matter what.

If Earle second-guessed his ACU commitment and reached out to us, we don't turn him away.

Stone has his usefulness so to me I wouldn’t see it as QB recruiting not going well.

A bit confused as to why Stone is staying, but I guess it isn't a bad thing.  But if he is being counted on to start, he will have to show much more than he did last season.

There should be available options in the transfer portal after last year's success.

Why would he back out and return to North Texas if he knew we were bringing in a transfer QB? He wants to play, not be a back up.  Maybe Morris told him the starting job was his to lose if he stayed. The fact that the team voted him a captain says a lot about the young man but I'm not sold he is the best we can do.

If he has career aspirations beyond college, the chance to start at UNT is better than anything ACU can offer. I don’t see any world where Morris tells him the job is his and leaves it at that.

Isn’t Kurt Warner’s kid in the portal as well?

He is. As well as a ton of talented QBs. And we’ll probably see more after bowl season. Not worried in the slightest about the QB position as of now.

Yeah QB pieces are barely falling into place. People need to relax on that position. While it's a big one, you'll likely see big schools only take 1 if they're paying top dollar. After that, guys will find their landing spots. It's not like other position groups where schools may take 4-5 guys.

As some QBs have committed, others have entered the portal including the number HS recruit from 2023, Malachi Nelson. There's plenty of quality QBs in the portal.  Maybe even more than open starting jobs and most won't get the big NIL deal they seek.

We need our QB's in for spring  ball.

So if Earle is coming back, I’m thinking he’ll be good for us. I’m also thinking EM wants someone to push Stone, or to earn the starting role over him.

If I’m Earle, I came back to compete for a starting job and to possibly pave the way for a GA role in the future.  Not sure if coaching is what he wants, though.

From Braxton's twitter it appears that UNT has already offered him. Morris and Co moved very quick with this one. Definitely the guy to keep an eye on

He also played at Frisco Independence so would be very close to home
