I'm happy for NMSU fans. They've had enough shitty seasons to last two lifetimes, and the 2001 Miracle in the Desert is one of my all time favorite college memories.

I was one of the few people high on Odom during the mid-to-late season coaching carousel debates. I do suffer from the general belief that defense is harder to find than offense is right now.

UNLV was a lot better than folks gave them credit for when they beat us last season. That quarterback of theirs is pretty good. They were 4-1 with a six point loss on the road to the Cal Bears as their only blemish before he got hurt.

To that point, it doesn't look like we have any DL commits for next season, do we? According to 247, we don't. We have offers out.

We have one commit, DE Matthew Reed, out of Denton Braswell.  He's 6'5" and 275 lbs.  Doesn't have a 247 profile.  We have extended 43 offers to Edge/DL per 24,7 and I don't think this includes all of our offers.  Out of these 43, 18 are currently not committed.

Based on their size and primarily being blocking TE's in HS, I would not be surprised if current commits Luke Carter (Katy) and Brandon Young Jr. (Mansfield Legacy) were shifted to DE/OLB.

I am also curious about some players moving to DL.  For instance, Damion Smallwood played DT in high school and could potentially help out on that side since he appears to be buried on the OL depth chart.
