Respectable showing in this tournament by the team.  Disappointing they were not able to get one of the first two games, but the team seems to have some ability and unlike the football team, the coaching staff seems like they have a better idea of what they are doing.

Walker gets eligible and we see a bit better showing from Dixon and we have a ten man deep roster that could really contend in the AAC.

Waiting for @Censored by Laurie to let us all know with his basketball knowledge and shooting ability how we could have won by 50. He won’t be impressed…. 🤣

He was one of the only ones here who wasn't flipping out that we lost to St Johns and LSU.

I’m not saying Robert Allen is Boris Diaw, but has anyone ever seen them in the same room together?

ETA: Allen made some great passes while in the post. Diaw was a very skilled passing big man. It was a compliment to Allen.

Come on, man

I guess if you keep banking on a walk-on to be a key rotational piece, you can create whatever narrative you want to think you're clever.

Moore played 5 minutes…1 rebound, 1 steal

and 2 turnovers. you could tell he was playing a bit too quick...problem with just getting run in garbage time is you're pressing to impress.

I think the rotation is pretty well set at 8 with Walker being the only possible wild-card. the next two games should provide Cotton and Moore some minutes, but I'm assuming they'll come similarly to the Towson game.

I've been hard on him, but I think overall Stone had a solid tournament. he was doing more than just camping on the perimeter and his shot looks improved.

Stone this season... 57% from 3s, 63.6% from the field.

My hope for Stone and all of our perimeter shooters: limit the pump fakes. When you have a good shot, just take it. Against the longer and more athletic teams, being open may not look the same as being open against Towson. Let that 3 point shot fly. Better to get off a contested shot than let the clock run out.

One thing I noticed about the scores in this tournament.  The three teams North Texas played each had their lowest point production of the tournament in their game against North Texas.  That makes me feel good about our defense.  Our tempo doesn't look as slow as last year, but it's still a good idea to slow down those teams that like to run.

Oh I wasn’t making that post to highlight how productive he was, I was more pointing out that he isn’t a walking triple double that inexplicably doesn’t get playing time

Received.

The coaching staff did an excellent job of filling our vacancies with excellent 3 point shooters. Unfortunately, that means Moore's best skill is covered. I think his shooting was needed last year but I just don't see the need for minutes this year. Being loose with the ball doesn't help.

Yeah, to be fair, I don't know how good he is in the limited minutes he has played, but as @GMG_Dallas said, I think we are covered with guards already.
