We have somehow stumbled into a potential generational QB (we tried our best to keep him on the bench) and somehow screwed it up by not even putting a mediocre defense on the field.

Plenty of teams run the 335 defense.  Maybe our DC is just not very good.

Or our players.

Would you fire a director level person at your workplace where there were some positive signs of progress with inherited staff members who they supervise? Where their  team (defense ) has not given up or shown a bad attitude?

Yes, another year is the answer.

Most saying no have either not led at high levels or have some repressed resentments they need to deal with.

I take it back .

Yes . My repressed resentments took place within the past hour , suddenly.

Dead last in yards allowed.

2nd to last in points allowed.

Another year? Caponi should be fired as he leaves the locker room. If we don’t, we’re not serious about football.

yep, could easily make the argument if he was only 100th place that he needs more time to develop his guys.

not when you're dead last, that indicates gross incompetence. i dont even need to see the stats to know they come out flat every single game.  the lack of preparation is out of this world terrible.  there is nothing to build on here, time to move on

I am still on Team Fire His Ass. This is an early crucial decision in Morris's tenure. Another losing season or definitely two and he should be on the hot seat as well. But keep in mind, it could still get worse. We could have another FBS-worst defense and go 2-10 instead of 5-7...

Caponi should be first on the "to do" list for Morris' off season.

Very skeptical. In the postgame presser, he blames tackling once more. Although that was a huge part, the one running the defense was the other.

Well, who teaches them to tackle? I mean.... it's pretty obvious the answer here.

He needs to go. And Eric Morris's reluctance to take action brings into question his judgement.

I posted this in the game thread, but it got lost. If you play back the broadcast, right at the 19:00 mark the announcers talk about what Morris said about choosing the QB this season.

Essentially, he said "the competition wasn't close....but he (Stone) flashed at times". Really????

I heard and thought the same thing. He needs to prove he can make the hard decisions.

2 qbs didn’t work and this DC isn’t going to work.

That would mean that offense and/or special teams regressed.  Dead last in total defense (yards allowed) and bottom 3 in every other major defensive stat is about the lowest of the low.
