It's so silly to compare Boone to Denton.

UNT has 110 years of football history with a 47K in student body in 2023.  Hundred thousands in alumni and we only came up with 17,354 at out home game with a instate rival on a perfect football weather day.

In all fairness there is not much else to do in Boone. UNT has to compete with the metroplex for the entertainment dollar. Same thing here with UTSA we have to compete with the Spurs and Longhorns.

App State is not like other G5s. By your logic I guess there are zero G5 DI football programs in the state of Texas.

Out of those 110 years how many years did North Texas have a winning record. The answer to that is the reason why we can’t fill a stadium. Since 1953 North Texas has had 27 winning seasons ( with a lot of 6-5 seasons)

Last bowl victory was in 2002

Last conference championship 2004

I don’t know where you think these fans are hiding when we haven’t had reasons to come to games.

This is a easy fix. Just win...and win in multiple years. Win championships..win bowl games which haven't occurred in 10 years.

THE ONLY WAY TO GET PEOPLE IN DFW TO DATCU for games

I would love to be a fly on the wall during the hiring process of a UNT football coach.  I’m talking about the selection process of candidates to interview as well as the interview of each head coach candidate.  I wonder how good or bad we really are.

Well recently, Mac was a big mistake. Littrell was a big mistake. Foolish one sided contracts were big mistakes.

We lost what, 10 years of building a strong program by foolish, inept decisions by our administrators?

If every coaching hire we make ends up being a "big mistake," maybe the problem(s) is something bigger than the coaching hires themselves.

True! Denton county has a population of 941k+ and is a 40 minute drive from hundreds of entertainment options. Boone is in Watagua county with a population 54k+ and is a two hour drive from Charlotte with about a quarter of the entertainment options. Going to a game is one of very few choices for a fall day in Boone! In Denton, there are a lot more options.

Saying that’s an “excuse” is like saying the rotation of the Earth is just an excuse for the sun not rising in the west!

And like it or not, those are the type of people who buy tickets and support football teams.

App St. and UNT attract vastly different types of students. Most students who are attracted to UNT are opposed to any outwardly display of testosterone.

As said in previous posts by others, you can’t force somebody to like football, and this school attracts far too many students that hate sports.

Ok who wasn’t a mistake football wise and who would you have hired that was available?
