Something I've never heard of before happened at the USC/California game. Time expired at the half with USC's offense in field goal position and the teams went to the locker rooms.

After halftime, the teams come back out and the PAC-12 refs let USC have an extra second quarter play with one second left. They get to attempt a field goal.

Thank Touchdown Jesus the field goal attempt missed, even though USC kicker Denis Lynch had gotten to practice the exact kick at halftime!

I didn't read the entire story, but I wouldn't be surprised that the refs determined this pretty quickly after half but not before teams had gone into the lockers.  They may have notified both teams that an additional play would be done at the start of the half but didn't want to bring everyone out and then start halftime all over.

Still a very unusual occurrence and really questionable since it allowed the kicker to practice the exact kick during halftime.
