Well well well... The high school coach "good ol boy" candidate network is failing at UNT. I am extremely disappointed yet not surprised in the least by the recent performances by UNT football. While football in Texas is incredibly stacked and should be heavily focused and recruited on, you CAN'T keep your small mindset in the world of college athletics and treat college football like high school. This is NOT TEXAS HS FOOTBALL. You are playing on a national level and are competing with the entire nation in regards to talent, players, facilities, and all aspects of this game. 

Honestly, the athletic department deserves everything they are getting. They chose to take an easy, lazy, and pathetic approach to hiring Morris. They could have had Nick Fuentes or literally anybody with high quality experience and connections, yet the AD let his local homebody arrogance get in the way and chose to hire a glorified high school amateur at best. NO national search, just hiring whoever he's heard about in his small group of good ol boys.

 

And for those who say "wait for basketball"...... Oh boy are you in for a treat, THE EXACT SAME THING IS HAPPENING IN HOOPS. Lazy hirings, pathetic recruiting and portal acquisitions that do not improve the roster AT ALL from the previous year. I mean how stupid can the athletic department be?????

A glorified high school football coach. Well I mean, Joey McGuire was coaching TX HS football until 2016 and went 8-5 his first year at Texas Tech. His only other college coaching experience is at Baylor. His Associate HC was in the high school ranks until 2012 and outside of the DC, everybody else seems pretty young and green.

I don't know UTSA's support staff but Jeff Traylor was in the HS ranks until 2014 and is young in terms of college experience. This has nothing to do with Morris being young, inexperienced, and lacking connections. Morris just surrounded himself with the wrong guys. It's always about the support staff.

Do you even follow this basketball program? We have had several players from the portal this season and another JUCO just like TP that is a flat out scorer. Just like TP. 

Not only that, but Hodge is the guy behind our defense. He WAS the best choice. Just bullshit being spouted.

He doesn't even follow football. I skimmed the post and missed the Nick Fuente deal. If he meant the former Memphis and VA Tech coach, his name is Justin Fuente...

Also, you're completely correct on our basketball recruiting. Hodge loaded up with transfers for his first class.

Everything was ehh until this really really bad take. Ross hit the portal well, they have more depth than ever, and they got back 3 of their key guys from last year minus TP. Ross has had plenty of years being a head coach and basically ran the defense under Mac. NT should finish top 4 at least this year, even with a much tougher schedule.

See yourself out the door on the basketball take because you didn’t do your research.
