Who is "Patrick" that Coach Morris was talking about? Is Patrick a significant player that might have been a difference maker had he gotten in more practice time before the game?

You know, if the defense needs remedial training regarding tackling, then someone didn't do their job properly back in the spring. Because the mechanics of "wrapping up" , which came up several times during the presser, is usually something that every defensive player should have learned back in junior high!

Tackling is about will and desire. An old coach told me several years ago, "He either will or he won't, and if he won't we have to find the ones who will."

The only "Patrick" on the team is DB Patrick Smith unless Morris was planning on sneaking Cobbs in.

From Meangreensports.com and the presser.

Smith drawing start
Redshirt freshman Patrick Smith will make his first collegiate start on Saturday after tallying seven tackles last week against California.

Smith will start at the "Star" spot in the secondary after a big performance on Saturday and a good few days of practice leading into the FIU game.

"This is ever changing," Morris said. "We want to give this team the best opportunity to win and from a body of work in that game, Patrick did some good stuff tackling. Was he perfect? Absolutely not. He had some busts and we have to get him dialed in. When he knows what he's doing he's very good and did some good stuff inside the box. He earned the right to do it. There's going to be other positions that people earn over the course of the week in practice."

Junior free safety Logan Wilson's eyes lit up when he was asked about Smith drawing his first start after last week's performance.

"That's a little pit bull right there," Wilson said of Smith. "He gets in there and does what he's supposed to do and he's gonna make plays."

Not much from Logan that hadn't already been said.

It was more of a joke.  Just thought it was funny that Wilson was the only one in the interview that didn't have notes.  Logan just muttered short answers back, so not much to make note of.  Like in the game, he didn't really tackle anything.

Coach Morris:

* They were bigger and more physical than us.

* We need to react to adversity better.

* We need leaders to step up and right the ship when adversity hits.

* Addressed the tackling issue today.  New drills were instituted.

* Have to get our running game going.

* Correct missed assignments.

* This offensive scheme is made to adjust to what the defense gives, but we will work to establish our run game.

Stone Earle:

* Good opportunity to correct the issues and play much better this week.

* We have to find our rhythm.  Too many three and outs that hurt the defense.

*  Execute better, period.

Jordan Brown:

* Time to execute better.

* Stop the arm tackling.

* Too many missed assignments. Have to focus on individual assignments.

* Get better every game (response to a weak question by Vito)

Good summary @UNTLifer

I couldn't understand half of what he was talking about.
