Fun fact: one of Sam Jackson's 6 career passing attempts was a screen pass to UNT's Blair Conwright that went for 8 yards.

The guy is a dynamic runner. Our defense's discipline will be tested.

I really hope the tackling has improved. That and being able to cover/stay on your man will make a HUGE difference. Lets see what this new defensive coach can do.

This game could come down to how his escapability pans out.

If we get past the OL, are we able to wrap him up?
If he scrambles, does he force throws?
If he scrambles, does he tuck it and run?

I hope that happens often. Also I hope of a million dollars so let’s see what happens first. But really it’s all on our defense backs and pressure up the middle that will make their QB run. Then it’s on out defensive ends to stay home. If the DE fails next the LBs which everyone is worried about. To really look at the numbers and size or DL is the weak point

This sets up for a classic scenario where UNT forces Cal into a 3rd and 12 situation, only to give up a 16 yard scramble to the QB.

If I had a dollar for every 3rd and long we have allowed in my 25+ years of fandom, the friggin stadium would have my name on it.

You weren't exaggerating here. He only played 16 games as a QB in high school. Senior year was canceled due to covid and then he enrolled early af TCU. He has a handful of pass attempts in college but that's it.

Fast will take a QB a long ways quicker. 

Remember the Rice Owls game at  DATCU during covid & Jason Bean's long run for a TD?  It was a thing of beauty. Once Bean turned the corner no one was going to catch him.

That may be a little hyperbole... But you would at least have the scoreboard naming rights

And for this, long refers to 20+ yards.  It's crazy how many times this has happened.

So often that in those situations I figured the odds us stopping them was about 50/50 at best.
