I still think the foundation is being laid to split college football (at least FBS) into its own organization, separate from the NCAA. It will then be split into two groups, with 65-75 schools in Tier 1 (Big money) and the rest in Tier 2.

No shot it's 70 schools getting the big money. That's what it is right now. One would think a lot of dead weight will be trimmed and we'll see 40 (20 in SEC & 20 IN BIG) programs getting the big money. Whatever is made of the leftover ACC will try to do some kind of patchwork job similar to what the big12 has done.

It's Tier 1: sec/big10

Huge drop

Tier 2: big12/some sort of raided ACC conference

Proper leadership and decision making can get the AAC into that 2nd tier. Otherwise:

Tier 3: AAC/MW

Tier 4: Belt*/MAC/CUSA

*The belt could easily play their way into tier 3, but they'll have to play their way there.
