I understand schools are going to try and better themselves, but does he get a little pissed at Rice, who has not even played a game, making inquiries about leaving the conference?

Yes.

Again, ridding smu, Memphis, and Tulane is not the end of the world. They are making what will lead to lateral moves, imo. There are better athletic departments sitting out there. Look no further than Army, JMU, and App St. I'd entertain ULL as a 4th addition if Rice does get swiped. There is a way to better from this if this scenario happens.

Haaahaaà....what does Rice bring to the table? Another has been wanting to re-live it's glory years....lol

The AAU designation for Rice and Tulane is important to Stanford and Cal.

Mad at Rice for doing what? An internet rumor? What does "applied for membership" even mean? Did they ask, "Hey are you thinking of adding schools?" There was a rumor a number of schools "filled out the paperwork to apply" but what does that mean? It's not like there is a formal application to join a conference!

That does what to dig Cal and the other 2 left overs dig their way out of a severe financial disadvantage faster?   If they are contemplating this Stanford and Cal should stop wasting everyone's time and go independent.  Their non revenue sports would be served well in the WCC with Gonzaga.

We’re talking “Sports” conferences, not Law School associations.

You might want to do a little research on how much this means to certain conferences and certain schools

It didn’t help the PAC so much, did it?   Five of them are now sleeping with the Big12.
