The American Athletic Conference is interested in adding any or all of the four remaining Pac-12 Conference schools, sources with direct knowledge of the league’s strategy told On3 on Monday.

If CaliforniaStanfordOregon State and Washington State are looking for a stable new home, the AAC believes it would be an ideal league for the so-called Pac-4. The AAC is interested in adding as many as all four of the schools, a source said, which would expand its membership to 18.

“We would be a good landing spot for those schools given our existing ESPN deal, which has a strong linear component, along with our major cities and institutional profiles,” one source said.

Did you hear about that MLB trade where the Astros reacquired Kate Upton? I think somebody named Justin Voldemort or Vacuumcleaner was also involved in the trade.

Is he aware that SMU basketball would be a bottom feeder in the Sun Belt?

The AAC does offer a better media deal then the MWC, more money and more lucrative markets.  I also think the AAC might offer more flexible terms, should these schools find a power conference that wants them.

It does not appear that we can get Stanford but we need to hear that from Aresco.  The last I heard Stanford is leaning heavily toward the ACC.  However, that conference is about to be a mess.  The SEC is thinking about offering Clemson and Florida State.  The BIG is also rumored to be looking at North Carolina and ? to fill the east side after Oregon and Washington come aboard.  I don't know if that will change Stanford's mind or not.  California was supposed to keep the Bay Area teams together.  This supposedly has something to do with Apple TV which is based in the Silicon Valley and has made some sort of deal with Stanford.

It does seem that the AAC could get Oregon State and Washington State.  Then we could invite California and a MWC team or if California turns us down then two from the Mountain West.  I know that we seem to prefer Air Force and Colorado State.  We'll just have to wait to see what Commissioner Aresco has been able to do.
