Layne Taylor asserted himself as one of the best passers in the high school game this summer. After visiting Central Arkansas last month, the 5-foot-9 floor general by way of Farmington (Ark.) Taylor has scheduled his second official visit of the summer with Chattanooga and will arrive on campus this evening.

In addition to the Mocs, Taylor has also scheduled official visits Montana State and North Texas.

North Texas: "Phil Forte played at Oklahoma State and was a smaller guard like me. I think he would be awesome to play for because he plays a little bit like myself and has been through the same things I will go through in college. I like the coaching staff and fit."

As @SUMGposted in the basketball forum, Taylor has committed to the Mean Green. 247 has him as the number 21 PG in the 2024 class and number 3 player in Arkansas.

Little write-up on the commitment:

February article on the new commit: https://www.5newsonline.com/article/sports/high-school/athlete-of-the-week/farmingtons-layne-taylor-looks-to-bring-home-state-title-alongside-his-dad/527-4c8334e4-94bb-4a43-938f-05411cf1b3b6

At the time of the article, he was averaging 24ppg on a squad coached by his dad whose season record at the time was 29-0.

The 5-foot-11 Taylor averaged 26 points per game a year ago to go with 5.6 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 2.4 steals and drew 14 charges. He also shot 81 percent from the free-throw line and has scored 2,404 points in his career. But the one thing he's done throughout his high school career is win. Taylor enters his senior year with an 89-9 career record.

For fun, I'd love to hear about other student-athletes that came through UNT from a coaching family.  Coach's sons/daughters.

How many can you name? I'll start with an easy one: Riley Dodge.

There has to be more.  @SilverEagle?

Jason Mills, Derek (sp?) LeBlanc, Kason Martin

Hopefully Chandler Morris in the fall

Look at the scores of their games this year.
