I wonder how these lists could even be created. There's no 3rd party data, the deals are generally secret, and nobody is giving their total spend except as advertisment so exaggeration is guaranteed.

Don't worry, stang. I'm sure your stangs are in there somewhere.

Remember when UNT was relevant?  Oh wait, no, nobody does.

A mustang fan talking about any other team's fanbase is always amusing.   SMU obviously has deep pocket fans, but few in numbers.   The Dallas Team campaign is good marketing, but far from accurate.

As far as being relevant on the overall college football scene, neither SMU, NT or any other team not in a major conference is going to excite the masses.

SMU should dominate the AAC just based on the money that they have from NIL, they have always been good paying players.

When is the last time Smut won the NIT?  How about a National Championship in Polo?  Oh, like never?!

But Smut will always have something UNT can never achieve...a Death Penalty asterisk mark* next to your Football program history.  How embarrassing.

Does everybody remember the early 80's when smut was relevant?

Not really, but I do remember the SWC dropping them like a hot potato when the big players formed with the then Big Eight. They brought nothing to the table then and they don't now. Except they think they do.

Remember when smuT touted breaking the color barrier in football with Jerry LeVias in 1965 only to ignore the fact that we had done this in 1956 with Abner Haynes.

It's not embarrassing.  Everyone knows it was BS.  Even the ESPN 30 for 30 on the topic was sympathetic.

The anti-athletics administration that came to power after it is embarrassing.

The amount that this board tries to make it into something embarrassing for personal schadenfreude should be embarrassing to you

Yes, we should. And if we don't then there is something majorly wrong.

SmuT didn’t deserve any sympathy. You all made your own bed. The history of smuT, and your fans and alumni’s firm belief that you all are more important than others just because of $$$$ should be embarrassing to you.

It wasn't BS, it was blatant disregard for the rules of the day.  It was and is still the culture of the campus and community there.... buy someone or something to get ahead.   Administrators, not just coaches, were paying players illegally.  Even after being warned to stop it, it continued.
