Too bad he couldn’t fire a certain coach closer to all of us when he was here.
Also, no one knows Ross Hodge better than Baker.

He wouldn't fire Benford.

I hope this thread is not for real.  The guys makes $1.1 million a year to run the athletic department.  Part of running an athletic department is firing a coach.  In my opinion, this is about an easy a firing as you could hope for.  Huggins basically gave him no choice.

Technically Huggins resigned.  It might be difficult if Huggins was laid up in the hospital from a DUI accident he caused.   Huggin’s himself or his team could have likely contacted Wren Baker first to inform him of his resignation and maybe try to save a couple of assistants. The difficulty is hiring a replacement under these circumstances.

Very difficult for him having to fire a coach he was so close to and had such a special bond with.  Very difficult position for the you man to be in early in his tenure.

Time for you to put a dollar in the girly jar

A lot of hate in here... And I can't object in his last 2 years.

But man... When he joined, the first few years were absolute 🔥. Marketing and graphics were on point. Hype was up. Then... Just nothing. If UNT were anything but a stepping stone to anyone things could go very differently.

It did seem to slow in some sports, notably football, but basketball and softball improved with new coaches.  One thing that he did do for football was to greatly help getting us in the AAC.  His friendship with the American commissioner was a great help in getting us recognition.

Yes.  But Wren was helped by our sports-friendly Prez too, who had AAC Prez friends.

A lot of turmoil in the PAC right now is because of differences of direction school ADs vs their Presidents want to go in regards to expansion or considering Big12 options.  Some Presidents won't allow their school to associate with non-academic schools or schools they consider different than their own.
