To hell with them! It's been a decade since a college football game has been released, and some players want to be greedy? There are 20,000 D-I scholarships to be had, probably an additional 5-10,000 players in D-I. If more than $500, how much can EA realistically pay out to each player?

Thankfully there is a Create-a-Player option...

Has the game been gone for so long that college kids don't understand why people loved the game so much? No one really cares if current players are included because the biggest appeal of the game was Dynasty Mode.

Well, i can't find any hard numbers, but based on minimal research, in 2013, they sold roughly 1.5MM units... so if we use the current cost new of a PS5 game ($69.99) the numbers would play out like this:

Revenue - 1.5MM units x $69.99 = $104,958,000

Based on a simple formula of 85 scholarships per 129 FBS teams here are the costs:

Total number of players - 129 * 85 = 10,965

Cost per player is $500, soooo - 10,965* 500 = $5,482,500 in cost

As of now, the cost of NIL is a pretty low 5.22% of expected revenues. If EA made their NIL licensing base a flat 8% that would free up another $2MM dollars to distribute among the players. (if you distributed this to every player, each share would rise to $765)

All that being said, the numbers above are based on the old video game model and not the in-game purchase world we live in now, where EA could potentially incentivize higher tier players with DLC or in-game purchases as 'unlockable' in the game. This could potentially be a huge gain for all-involved to make more money.

Just some quick thoughts,

General Booty will never see the field at OU.  Greed will be the downfall

Please keep in my it is all a court ruling that broke up the CFA, greed of school athletic departments, greed of top coaches, greed sport apparel business, sport casters, (including those buying ads on those broadcast) and the greed of school leadership that passed the greed on the  student athletes.  I think people forget that.  I like the old Big 8/12, old Big 10 (without Penn State), the SWC, and PAC 10.   Most people welcomed 80s/90s  conference realignment but now that the greed is fully unleashed it is a mess.  Pacific Coast teams in a conference with Atlantic Coast teams.  🙄. So please reserve a lot of you disdain for the people profiting the most from the players labor on the field.  Because it definitively isn’t the vast majority of players.

Thanks for the lecture.  Yes, my disdain is spread amongst all involved.  I just found it funny that General Booty is the one speaking out.  That cat would make more money selling his name to some low-rent porn outfit.

This is dumb. Just make the game with generic player names and I guarantee someone will have a full roster download available on Day 1, just like they've been doing every year for NCAA 14

This ass could be one of the poster boys for "I know I will never play meaningful snaps, but hey, I am at a P5, and I can act relevant." NIL was a good plan. Pay-for-play is turning out to be one of the worst things ever to infect college sports.

🙄 no self serving greed is the American way and it was bound to find its way down to the college player level.  I think ending 50 year old rivalries over TV dollars is worse thing that has infected College Football.  It is why our school doesn’t get to a lot of the schools we want to play.  And if we stop playing SMU that will be a major factor.  🤷🏽‍♂️
