dont we already know it is DATCU or was that a random mistake?

What is a DATCU for those of us not in Denton?

"UNT athletic director Jared Mosley said the school anticipates being able to announce the new name for the $78 million venue by the middle of July...

“We are in the closing phase of contracts and negotiations,” Mosley said. “We are really excited about where we landed.

“When we can talk more about it and the partner we have coming on board, people will be excited about their connection with UNT and the opportunity to do some remarkable things around the stadium with concerts, games and outside events. It’s a tremendous opportunity for us.”

A local credit union? Nah, I don’t think so. That would make zero sense. It will be a company that wants to promote its brand regionally and nationally.

All anyone needs to know is DATCU.  Who cares if outsiders don't know what it stands for.  Houston's stadium is named for a credit union.

I agree. DATCU currently serves the following counties: "DATCU is a full-service financial institution serving Denton, Cooke, Wise, Montague, Collin, Dallas, Tarrant, Jack, Parker, Grayson and Clay counties in Texas."

TDECU is larger but primarily is located in the greater Houston area. It was originally created to serve employees of Dow Chemical.

I bank at DATCU and think it would help immensely in promoting growth in the local fan base, in addition they already use green as their primary color.

How?    Perhaps if part of the sponsorship was to display UNT Athletic schedules and posters in their facilities that would help.   Or give away four tickets to every new account opened, something like that.

Greater marketing in general needs to happen.   We have always relied too much on just word of mouth from fans and expect walkups every game.

I think I found a clue that DATCU will be the new stadium sponsor:  savings rate of .5%.  Yep, they are saving money for their stadium deal.

Honestly, that’s a horrible rate at this time.

If it does end up being DATCU Stadium, what will be the correct pronunciation?  Do we say "Denton Area Teachers Credit Union Stadium" or "D-A-T-C-U Stadium" or could it be " Dat Cee Yew Stadium"??

Or some smarta$$ says da-TCU Stadium.
