Here is some background on Steinbock.  She is a Lubbock native, so maybe she is ready to come home to TX.

Looks like she went out "Huggins'" style.

umm yeah that was kinda ugly.

She was a solid coach and I think she would still be there if not for this pretty bad incident, happened 2 days before team played in the NCAA's.

I fixed the second link.  That was a little over two years ago.  If she has been incident free since then, I would be comfortable offering her with a clause for "good behavior".

Jeff Hammond at Liberty would be #1, but he has everything there right now for a mid-major

Ryan Haymond - Associate HC at Memphis, but they are finishing off a new 24 ct Outdoor and 12 ct Indoor Facility, plus he has been there for almost 10 yrs

Courtney Steinbock former UA HC, but she may still need a few years out of sight before any AD takes her back

Lauren Longbotham-Meisner former Auburn HC, she did well at Auburn in a tough SEC and also did very well at SMU. She has been out of coaching for a few years now, so not sure she would have interest, although family is from Texas

Amanda Stone HC La Tech; just won ITA Southern Region Coach of the Year, she has also done a tremendous job getting community backing in Ruston, doubtful she would leave small town for DFW Area, also did extremely well at Northeastern St prior to La Tech.

@untbowler Nice call

Thoughts

Seems like a solid choice...good background and might be able to get Denton behind her based on past history.  Also interesting that a female coach in charge for a change.  Not sure if that will be a factor.  Don't know much about her.  Anyone know how she is in recruiting?  Or developing players?  Retaining players?  These seem to be areas we need to strengthen.

Community oriented, she had a great following in Ruston, retains players well, especially considering Ruston is not overly exciting. She also is good at hitting the transfer portal.

Think she will do extremely well, she is 180 degree change in demeanor from Lama, fairly soft spoken.

Thanks for the info!  Looks like we will need some help from the transfer portal for next year since we have lost several players to the transfer portal already this year.

yeah losing 3 of Top 4 is going to be tough to fill, especially this late in the year. I bet she brings a few transfers and maybe get a few to come in January

Do you know whether the players were considering transfering prior to Coach Lama not being rehired or after they found out he was leaving?

Assuming, like tennis is like other sports, the LaTech players now have a 30-day transfer window. Are there any possibilities of adding a player or two?

Bienzobas maybe as a Grad Transfer would be about the only one to be honest, others have already transferred 1x or are graduating as 5th year

Kinda like that she played other sports and was in something else before coaching too- someone who gets the 360 degree picture of the collegiate experience which could help with development
