Rubin is a good player for us. He’s been inconsistent at times this season, but when he’s on it adds an entirely different dimension to the offense. Him and Abou are really the X-factors

The FAU staff told me that they voted Rubin Jones as their defensive player of the year. He made the all-defensive team. On the MGN podcast, we talked about his ability to pass, score, and defend. I don't know who is not singing his praises, but he's value and talent are well known among those who watch regularly.

It's understandable he would need to ease in since he started the year injured. It's not just the physical part of recovering from the injury, the time it takes to get back into game shape, but also the mental part. Feeling secure and confident plays a big role. Plus he also had a re-injury scare in the Bahamas tournament from a slip.

It doesn’t happen too often, but I like when he runs the offense. He’s a really good passer so when he’s the point it feels like he has a drive, pass, then shoot mentality.  Glad he plays for the good guys.

on the ball, Rubin still gets sped up a bit and can make some silly mistakes...probably made to look all the more silly by how deliberate this team usually plays. that said, with him TP and Kai all basically having a point guard skill-set, that SHSU press at no point had me worried and we largely broke it with no issues (save for maybe the worst lob pass ever thrown by Aaron Scott). 

it's a shame the knee injury broke up his linear development, but super excited to see what he could put together next season if he gets his shooting numbers back up and is given a bit more of a feature in the offense.
