You have to apply for it through a licensing company. Not a simple process.

This is his own branding, so it makes sense he can't use North Texas logos, etc. 

As stated, let's show him some love! I assume he gets a decent part of the profits.

In short, no. No one is allowed to use the NT marks unless you apply and are approved. Last I looked into this process you need to pay a fee, submit samples, and guarantee the university a certain minimum of revenue up front. You also then pay something like 10-20% of the value. 

Also, in NIL things you are not permitted to use marks at all. That's the state law.
