FAU trending as an #8 seed, got screwed and given a #9, probably deserved a #7 after cruising the for most of the past 8-10 games

Why are 2 of the play-in games for 16 seeds but the other 2 are for 11 seed?

It’s been like that for a while. Honesty wish they removed the “play in” games and go back to 64 and have a better selection process.

I didn't really know either.  Interesting history; it goes all the way back to 1998 when the MWC schools broke off from the WAC.   The first 10 years was a simple play-in game for #16 teams.  Then it basically evolved to get more "name" teams into the Tourney as at-large entrie$ for TV revenue.  Yes, "name" teams....

"Bringing four ''name'' teams into the fold led to a dramatic boost in TV ratings."

From 2022...

Yeah, I remember how it all started but didn't know the history of why the play-in for the 11 slot.

This was the part I didn't know: "and then two more games for the four lowest-rated at-large selections, either in a No. 11 or No. 12 game"
