NIT is not good enough for them?   They will just take their ball and go home.   That's really a poor response from them.

Man, this is exactly how I feel, such bratty, pretentious, pompous behavior. Been talking to my brother about Texas Tech doing this also. They think they are too good to be in the little ole NIT.

Well....their record states otherwise...

I don't really mind Tech doing it. From what I've read, they released a statement 3 days ago saying they wouldn't pursue postseason competitions. Granted, I'm sure they knew they weren't getting in the Big dance but at least they didn't just wait to see what happened before releasing their statement. UNC released their statement as soon as the NCAA tournament bracket was released. Spoiled brats.

Okay, the door has been opened and GreenMiner is seeing at least one scenario where these guys are working against us:

If ESPN is able to influence bowl selection to maximize viewership, it totally makes sense that some TV CEOs/whatever are in the ears of Lunardi and the Committee, egging them to keep the bigger names on TV, rather than some lesser fanbase that will not draw as many pairs of eyes.

That, IMO, is much more believable than someone saying the committee people themselves are personally hoping we stay out.

Common thread is that ESPN wields too much influence on college sports.
