The arena looks like it holds less than the Allen Events Center.

Definitely one of the older venues in Vegas. You would think if they were going to bother throwing out the MSG tradition, they would have gone for a bigger venue like T-Mobile Arena, or at least something new like the new place in Henderson. Although I would be surprised to see even the Orleans place sell out for the final.

Hofstra has been absolutely hosed all night against Rutgers. The CAA player of the year fouled out on a terrible call with 7 minutes left in regulation but man are they tough. Looks like they're going to OT.

It doesn't look too terrible from photos.

Better than some of the older, smaller CUSA gyms (UTSA, Rice, FIU)....

The governor a NJ made a stink about them not making the big dance. Fans were on message boards calling for a class action lawsuit against the NCAA. Fans were on social media crying about it. Just beautiful to see, especially after their fans were chanting "NIT" at Michigan a few weeks ago. Not that I care about Michigan but still. They didn't respect the opposition and got burned.

One of my best friends for his BA and PhD from Rutgers but teaches at Hofstra. I wonder if he was conflicted (although chances are he might not have even been aware of the game).

I am curious about your word choice here. To me, “knocks off” has always implied that the underdog won. Vito tends to use that term for any situation. In this case, Liberty was a two seed and Villanova the underdog, so “knocks off” would not apply here.

Not trying to call you out specifically but curious how others view that expression bc it drives me crazy when Vito uses it when we beat a team we are clearly favored to beat.

IMO, knocks off equals wins.  I don’t see it as an upset win, instead another way to say “won the game.”

Call me crazy, but it looks like all the 2 and 3s were “re-seeded” simply because the selection show had their seedings labeled wrong? Cuz it appears they just had all the 2s and 3s flipped previously.
 

I say this because nothing changed other than the number beside us. I think ESPN simply screwed up. I mean, would this honestly surprise any of us if this was the case?

That's one of the big question marks regarding tournaments like the NIT. Is the team up for it, and do they want to be there? It seems a lot of times the best team does not always win.

I think Rutgers was more than up for it. They played like they had something to prove. I watched almost the entire game and it was very competitive and physical. Rutgers had the game won being up by 5 with 30 seconds left until Hofstra hit a three which was honestly a poor shot choice but it went in. Rutgers missed the first free throw of a 1 and 1 and then Hofstra went for the win with a 3, missed, but got the offensive board and put back with 2 seconds left. It was a great comeback by Hofstra that clearly had them go into OT full of momentum. Let's not downplay Hofstra's victory by saying Rutgers wasn't up for it.
