Justin Bannister, associate vice president of NMSU's Marketing and Communications, applauded UTEP's response by saying "well played."

 

This is very near the UTEP campus.

I had thought the same thing, but it seems there are different shades of crimson

And this is maroon, which looks a lot closer to what she's wearing on the billboard. Or it's just the sun. Or I'm partially colorblind.

OU wears crimson, Alabama a darker shade of crimson.  I never thought of NMSU as the same color, but they claim crimson as their official color.
