Softball - 20 Games Played

*Comments based on our preseason expectations - 

12-8 overall. Not where most thought we would be. Four losses against teams we probably thought we would beat based on our preseason Top-25 ranking (McNeese, Wichita State (2), & TAMU-CC). We have no "upset" wins. I'm not sure if the expectations were too high, but I still believe we should be okay in conference play.

We have faced some good reams, but our hitting has not been good. Only four players are currently hitting over .235. We have had some bad at-bats against some of these better pitchers. Most likely, we have faced some of the better pitchers we will see this year.

I think this weekend killed any chances of getting back into the Top 25 this year. Hopefully we use this tough nonconference schedule to our advantage and start beating up on CUSA again to collect some wins.

One thing I didn't know until looking into it yesterday is that the AAC only has seven schools that field softball teams, and two will be gone next year, to be replaced by five CUSA teams.

If we can continue to dominate CUSA this year, we can be more than competitive in the AAC as well, though their two best teams Wichita State and East Carolina will remain. But we have quite a few underclasswomen still.
