We're up 1-0 after 1. Sac Fly by Gamble.....brings in Cobb.

McKenzie Wagoner in the circle, for us today. That means she's pitching, if you're not familiar with the softball term.

Lose 4-2. Bad weekend and we will be out of the rankings.

Losing to #16 Kentucky was disappointing. But, losing to McNeese was unacceptable. This was a terrible loss today, and we will certainly pay the price when the next poll is released.

Tough loss(es). For fair balance, McNeese (7-2) lost to KY by the same 4-0 score we did. Historically, we are 1-4 against the Cowgirls. Interesting they play #12 Washington at home tomorrow.

Not happy with either loss, but my team will be fine. See you Saturday.

This group will be fine.  Tough loss today, but they have played a lot of games in the past two weekends.  Love this program.

Me too. Just like in baseball....if you have pitching in softball....you can beat anybody. And thus far....through 9 games, the most number of runs we've given up is 4. (And in one of those games....two of the runs were unearned. In the other, one was unearned).

And that Schoonover gal who was so dominant for UK.....Skylar Savage has the size and potential to be just that dominant. She's 6'2".....and only a true sophomore.

Go Mean Green!

McNeese also run-ruled UTA like we did and had a very similar tourney as NT.  They are not a bad team.

Personally we shouldn’t lose to McNeese in any sport and yes we will take a hit in ranking/RPI…but all we can do is learn from this weekend and move on!

Oh FFS!!!!!

I wonder sometimes if some of the folks on this site who keep clamoring for a baseball team, which we currently cannot successfully fund and would easily play third fiddle to TCU and DBU in the metroplex, could handle how a season of baseball goes?  I doubt it.

Like baseball, softball is a potential  60+ game season and it’s mandatory early and throughout to find out WTF you have in the ranks, most importantly your pitching against good teams so you find out who your battle-hardened core is for conference and tournament time.

McNeese Softball is a solid team.  Last year McNeese won 40 games and went 15-3 in conference.  Along the way they beat us, Houston, Baylor, Memphis #19 ULL and beat #18 Notre Dame twice to eliminate them from the NCAA tournament.  “GASP”………McNeese was in the NCAA TOURNAMENT last year????  WHAT????

Like all early games…a February tournament loss to McNeese is simply a valuable measuring stick DeLong will use to prepare for May and June.  That’s how baseball…….AND softball goes.

That McNeese team.....just beat #12 Washington......3-2. Washington was 9-1 going in to the game....with their only loss being to #1 Oklahoma (by 1 run).

and that McNeese team just lost at home to (7-6) South Alabama 3-0…go figure! Sucks that we fell out of the rankings this past week but understandable!

No reason to because that’s how college softball goes when pitching your #4 in a mid week game.  And 4 of South Al’s 6 losses were against P5 programs. So they aren’t bottom feeders.  Just better on that day.
