Don't get me wrong, I hope he does well but goodness, according to Bert the dude is making basically $500K!  Almost double all the rest.  That's a lot of scratch where I come from.   Can't argue with what he accomplished at ISU.

I wouldn't be so concerned. Our last import from Iowa State made quite a name for himself.

You may be going over my head, so let me ask a couple of very simple questions:

1.  Are you talking about Dan McCarney?

2.  Are you saying that's a good thing?

I thought he was reversing Fry.

 2. Yes

1.  Won that bowl game primarily with the previous regime's recruits.  He also brought us the worst loss in North Texas history once he had to play solely with his own recruits.  That was also arguably the worst season in North Texas history.

2.  We seriously downgraded our coaching if we are getting Coach Mac 2.0.

1. Or you can say he took players who couldn’t win before him to win a bowl game.

2. Winning bowl games are always good.

Agreed on both points.  But...

1.  Overall, his tenure was terrible.

2.  He left the program in far worse shape than he got it.

3.  Anyone who would want a repeat of the Dan McCarney tenure is plain dumb.

Ha!

I was attempting to make a little joke, referencing former ISU coach Mac and the notariety he achieved over the "worst loss in the history of college football".

Could Caponi be our Seneca Wallace?

Question, no info.

As long it’s effective, I’m good with it.  Our current HC and DC are making what SL made last season. I’m excited to see how the players respond to his system.

It needed to happen.  Money well spent!

Speaking of things Iowa, there is an obituary in this morning's DR-C (sat) for former North Texas coach Bill Brashier.  There is no date of death listed.  And also, adjacent  to the Bill Brashier obit is an obit for Brashier's son Scot, who died, according to the article, November 28, 2022.   There is no mention of North Texas in either obit.
