OU and TX not leaving Big 12 until 2025

The teams from the American are still moving and so will we. Still think they leave after next season. Big12 putting the screws to them to get more exit fee money.

No. Lol this has nothing to do with the AAC. Us, Cincy and UCF followed AAC bylaws, paid fees and gave an 18 month notice. Plus the 2023 Big 12 and AAC schedules have been released.

UT tried to get our game with them moved to NRG and offered 8 figures, but our AD said no.

Big 12 will just be a 14 team conference until July 1, 2025 unless a deal gets reached.

Would be freaking hilarious if in 2024 they did not schedule UT and OU to play each other. Make them use one of their OOC slots.

Texas A$M joined the SEC in 2012, and at 2-6 in conference last season and 5-7 overall, they still haven't ascended to the top half of the SEC.  Texas may be in for the same nightmare....no longer a Top Dog that they are in the Big12.

aTm was at the top of SEC for a few years when they first entered under Johnny football. At the time they looked quite smart. Sadly they couldn’t maintain it. They don’t regret the move however.

A Top Dog???  They haven’t finished higher than 3rd for several years.  They are nothing more than also rans.

UT will be the same in the SEC as they are in the Big 12.

Top Dog historically, and as a current attendance draw for all away Big12 stadiums.  They still have status, along with OU, it's why the SEC wants them.

For sure.  My reply was meant as a jab at UT because they definitely consider themselves Top Dogs, even though they aren’t in the standings.

UNT looked good too when Seth had Mason Fine.  Without him, not so much.  An elite QB is always the answer.

The are definitely the TOP DOG when it come to doing LESS with more than any other teams. In the past several years it's hard to imagine any school has spent more than them to have so little success. They are the Dallas Cowboy equivalent for FBS.

Nope.  This is just all money based, and all the financials of the realignment of the G5 conferences are final.  The only other move that it has an extremely small chance of impacting is USC & UCLA to the Big 10 (a far more negative impact to college football than the SEC expansion).  But that impact is driven by a domino effect with network conference rights deals.  

Football wise in the long term I suspect this will be more negative move for OU than Texas.  OU can’t afford to be mediocre.  I would have thought they would look at the example Nebraska provides and would have pumped the brakes on a move to the SEC.  Nebraska is rolling in money and irrelevancy since the move.  And the consistent relative success of the program was its biggest recruiting positive it could hold over most program.  Texas will be fine because they are used to being irrelevant nationally without Mack Brown.
