In this day and age of the NIL, the secrecy around player injuries and "disappearances" off the roster should end. Fans/alumni are now more financially involved than at any time in the history of the game and we have players like Gabe Blair, Leke Asengua and Jasper Lott just quietly removed from the roster, players like Sheffield that are on their way to big games end up on the bench in critical situations, etc... Sorry, but the days of secrecy are gone. I want to know the status of these people. Where are they? Why did they leave? Etc...
They weren't treated unfairly. They were warned numerous times and they thumbed their nose at the NCAA basically from the Governor's office. Go Russia State!
I think coaches measuring stick should be the 1st Half of the schedule next year. Moseley should be prepared to fire him mid season and assign Cobb as interim if he is having poor outcomes.
Do I need to go into another rant about how we didn't start our endowment fund until 1974 or 75. It was AGAINST OUR CULTURE TO RAISE OUTSIDE MONIES. When we finally caught on, we were 84 years behind just about everyone else. BUT most of the administrators still didn't want North Texas to change.
Around the time that "Jitter Nolan" and Hayden Fry arrived we were the complete opposite of SMU. They loved their money, and we loved our bureaucracy. And that is mostly still true today.
SMU resents that they were punished for what just about all the other SWC schools were doing. And that is somewhat valid. But my assessment of what went down starts with the fact that everyone dislikes and/or hates SMU and it culminated with their ham handed, and arrogant, system of paying players.
SO, once again, SMU was treated unfairly, but they pretty much brought it on themselves. Just about everyone hated you then.......and pretty much still does.
