Why isn’t this kid getting any looks? Senior season he threw for over 4,100 yards, 50 TD’s, only 4 Ints, and completed 72% of his passes.  He is the two time 4-6A Offensive player of the year. That is a 12.5 to 1 ratio on TD to int. And was a three year starter that improved every year. Junior and senior year went three rounds deep in the playoffs.

Have our coaches evaluated him? He is a pocket passer but at least at the 6A level has the wheels to escape the pocket and run.

I would think this would at least get a POW offer?

He's currently being followed by the staff. It looks like he made a few big visits during the season and summer. Not sure why he doesn't have any big offers.

Impressive film.  Throws the ball 40 yards with the flick of his wrist.  Quick release.  Hits his WR's in stride. Throws well on his rollouts.  Not sure why we wouldn't offer, because I am guessing we will see some move to the portal after spring practice.

Our staff was interested in him as a pwo, but don’t have spit for another hs qb at the moment.

After Spring doesn't it seem likely one or two of the QBs we have will move on?

Ok I need 20 guys to pledge $100 a month and we offer the kid $2000 a month NIL money! Who’s in?

Possibly. But can’t had players until spots are available

Is there a limit to the number of PWOs or total roster size in general? I know about the 85 scholarship limit but didn’t realize there was a limit outside of that.

Convert to a straight walk on… BYU is paying their walk ons.

Still do not see how this does not violate the 85 rule

Bring this young man in as a PWO and award him a scholarship after spring.  There is no way Rogers, Earle, Rudder, Gunnell and Head all stick once the depth chart starts to shake out.

Walk ons are not included in the 85!

Understand, but the group doing this is paying for all walk-ons even before they know who they are. So how does this become NIL if you don't even know who the person is before you commit to a deal with them? In theory, boosters could pay for 10-20 players who would normally get scholarships, and leave scholarship spots available.

I believe this is happening already at some of the bigger schools.

Absolutely. It's very simple for the BYU Collective (NIL) to handle this. They have the funds available to pay the players for the full cost of attendance for the entire roster (including walk ons), and those monies are allocated when the rosters are set for the fall & spring semesters.

One of the Dallas area’s most prolific passers is headed to Denton.

Trophy Club Byron Nelson senior quarterback Jake Wilson announced his commitment to North Texas on Wednesday’s national signing day. In just two-and-a-half seasons as Byron Nelson’s full-time starting quarterback, Wilson totaled 8,994 passing yards and 100 touchdowns.

Wilson passed for 4,147 yards, 50 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions as a senior for Byron Nelson (11-2), which led all Dallas-area 6A teams in total yards of offense per game (561), passing yards per game (342.77) and points per game (49.38). He rushed for 393 yards and 8 touchdowns, too.

A 6-2, 205 pound signal caller, Wilson broke out as a junior in 2021 with 3,884 yards and 38 touchdowns. He led all Dallas-area 6A quarterbacks in passing yards as a senior, and was second as a junior. He was named the District 4-6A Offensive Player of the Year in 2022, and was the district’s co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2021.

For real?  How did this kid not get looked at by more programs?  I feel like we stole something.

Walking on at Purdue. A couple of ex UNT coaches on that staff.

Said this on Twitter, but if Morris is going after the same guys as Harrell? Count me in.
