It would make sense to go with a more modern song with the current student body. It's hard to get a song that can get both the student side and the regular fan side on their feet, but catering it to the students is the way to go, right? There are people like Three 6 Mafia or DMX who could kinda bridge the gap between older and newer UNT fans alike but man is it hard to find something for everyone

Honestly, Tobe seems like the easy choice. He's got a lot of buzz around his name and blowing up and then add the fact that he not only went here but played.  If he could make an original that would be cool but I don't think that would be necessary, we could just sample one of his songs he has.

If that isn't the way we go, I was always partial to these guys when looking to get amped.

the irony of all of GMG pumping themselves up to Rage is just delightful to me.

People would have to ignore or put aside their feelings of the actual meaning of the song of course. It's just a good hype song.  Also, I have a feeling a majority of the students and close to half of the alumni are in line with Rage than you think.

I'm sure Zack wouldn't agree with what we reduced their music to though.

I'm so old school that nothing stirs me up more than a Sousa march or Huffines' "Them Basses".  If that's now passe, then perhaps just our fight song "Let's Give a Cheer" with the alternate NORTH...TEXAS a stated number of times until the team returns to the sidelines.

'Rage' was/is in kind of a 'gray' area, as this user's sphere-of-influence has gone on record as saying they would otherwise be a bit more fans of them if they weren't pretty much 'AnCom' (a.k.a oxymoronic), as the 'Symphony' song is otherwise a blast and a well-done music video from back in the day, but it still reeks of subscribing to false dichotomies/zero-sum games that don't exist, painted by and perpetuated by the 'new world order', for this user's taste, at least.

The overall passion and aim of such a song/video is in good heart, this user's feels, just off-the-mark at the end of the day.

As someone who has been familiar with the area as well....whilst such people are a vocal minority in the grand scheme of things, they are concentrated in the urban areas, including and especially college campuses and this user has run into multiple 'AIDS-Skrillexs' in their time. It's sad.

Inside baseball: This user would go around campus taking down 'Antifa' recruiting posters and such SJW agitprop some time ago on a near-daily/nightly basis. This user had several teachers (they don't deserve the title of 'professor', IMHO) pegged as being 'on the take' of 'ActBlue/GeorgeSoros' and behind some of the suspicious activities this pedestrian would see on many a night around campus while walking off breakfast and dinner.

what in the actual hell just happened here? THIS user really wants to know!

Was just making a supposition out loud that, as much as this user and their sphere-of-influence would like to be bigger fans of 'Rage', as 'Symphony' is a fairly decent song and video, it/they come across too much as anti-straight-white-male/pAtRiArChY/capitalism (a SLUR coined by KarMax to discredit free markets, which is what it really means) because they/it appears to denote what passes then/today as 'capitalism' as actual capitalism and not what it was/is: 'CRONYISM'.

They're name comes up in circles this user follows and is a part of to some degree as desired musical acts at events and/or as influences in the lives of fellow travelers, but they/this user all say the same thing that they weren't 'quite there', compared to others in the space (like 'Backwordz', 'Freenauts', 'AlaisClay', etc.).

you a second or third year philosophy major? whatever you're attempting with your whole "this user" and "sphere-of-influence"...just stop. write like a human.

their literal band name is "Rage Against The Machine". who do you think this "Machine" is?
their biggest hit is called "Killing in the Name Of" and contains the lyric "some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses". who do you think those "forces" are?
their next biggest hit is called "Bulls on Parade" that contains the lyric "weapons, not food, not shoes, not need, just feed the war cannibal animal".

they're a political band. you're not meant to be their fan at all.

Ah, JonathanDavis!

Woulda thought most would've gone with 'Freak on a Leash', but this is pretty good. However, this listener both agrees and disagrees with yuh and this take at the same time.

For a football stadium, being open-air, full of people, with time constraints, et al....it's kinda hard for this user to imagine fans to hear in-person the intro and broadcast viewers to have the patience (in this day-and-age of 30-second-or-less attention spans) to allow this to 'grow' on the fan base as a new tradition.

Nice title (because birds-of-prey could 'peck' at eyes, for example), but the rest just kind of....trails off and ends unexpectedly.

See, this user is passionate about professional wrestling, admittedly more so in the past than in the last fifteen years, or three years, especially, and the prevailing logic is that wrestlers have to react differently to stadium crowds, compared to (roofed) arena crowds, because the acoustics are different (this is a 'music school', right?), primarily because the sound 'floats' upward and out, as opposed to 'back at' the fans indoors.

With a lesser-known song and a raucous crowd chattering before an entrance, and referees waiting to start the game, it's hard to wait too long and with such an intermittently low sound effect, some may think is just distant gunfire or falling objects, IMHO.

Would welcome the chance to be proven wrong on this, however, and would need to hear it twice, in-person and over a broadcast, to more suitably gauge the efficacy.

Whilst still in the early '00s, this poster would be remiss not to toss out KidRock and LimpBizkit (an old flame, as it were), and the like.

Then there's BillyCorgan and SmashingPumpkins and/or MarilynManson!

Hmmm....this user had a thing for Metallica's 'St.Anger' and 'SomeKindOfMonster' back in the day (yes, this user is one of those who liked something from their '03 catalog, 'trash can drums/cymbals' and all)....since aa bird-of-prey can be seen by some as a 'monster' (such as legends of large birds swooping in and claiming children out playing, a la old episodes of 'MonsterQuest' and Aztec/Mexican lore), how about the latter, as the turkeys have for their entrance?

That COULD be well-paired with this user's idea for a new uniform concept of a mash-up between the 'Mean Green Texas Battle Flag' and an eagle's head/beak, perhaps as part of a promotional video package complete with a fog machine and lasers!

Food-for-thought....er....listening.

It is a bit long for an intro. You could use the 30ish seconds or so leading up to the “Are you ready?” line.  I just think it would be really cool to hear that guitar and drum build for a bit with the team in the tunnel to see them run out as Jonathan Davis growls, “are you ready?” and the fireworks go off and the crowd goes crazy as the song really opens up after that line. Would be amazing.

Would also love to see the team run out to Stone Cold’s song and smash some beers on the 50 and start shotgunning them. Or maybe they could do Blind at the beginning of the game and Stone Cold beer chugging for the 2nd half?  Pretty sure we’d sell some tickets to be able to see that happen!

1: No, this user doesn't believe in phony degrees.

2: The 'Machine' is -- ultimately -- the new world order, which has many 'tentacles', if one follows, for one, RichardGrove's 'Brain' app, and is, in and of itself, a proxy of evil ancient aliens who tried and failed before to centrally-plan the Earth, and they're trying again and want revenge on those who 'spanked' them by perverting their creation since clay got into the test tube at the inception of 'humanity', and 'the State' is defined as the (namely coercive) monopoly (all of which are artificial and not natural) on credit, arbitration, and defense over a given region, which acts as the main 'hitman' of the aforementioned.

The weapon-of-choice is 'unsound money' from the CentralBanksters, because the 'credit' part of the 'unholy trinity' -- if yuh will -- funds said arbitration and defense, and the main way to liberate people from the oppression of the State and CentralBanks is to render 'Gresham's Law' obsolete with SOUND MONEY (such as through anonymous-by-DEFAULT cryptocurrencies powered by makeshift solar sails backed up by 'Dispute Resolution Organizations' (DROs; 'private security firms' otherwise) competing in a free market, which fixes itself by the way.

3: 'Politics' doesn't truly exist, there are only 'poly ticks' (many parasites), as 'politics' is merely the impressment of 'Dark Triad Psychology' -- which is made up of 'sociopathy' by way of normal people who crack after some trauma; 'psychopathy' by way of BORN defective individuals who, in essence, behave as cannibals and see others as prey; and 'narcissism' -- upon the market.

At the end of the day, to tweak what VinceLombardi said, 'Business isn't everything, it's the only thing.' The new world order (its proxies and patrons with such mindsets, officially-affiliated and unwittingly-subscribed; as the 'Sith' in 'Star Wars' are BOTH a belief and a people (in the form of the 'Sith'ari' who mixed with 'Dark/Fallen Jedi') rebelled/rebels against supply-and-demand and figure themselves above universal truths, and a monopoly over those three aforementioned things helps in the delusion/illusion.

It's NOT about social-engineering as they purport it to be, like the 'Cardassian jailor' in the two-part 'Chain of Command' episode of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', because Nature > Nurture. Nature always wins. Now, as one MarkPassio warned at 'Anarchapulco 2018' during his presentation 'Anarchy and the Occult', one can be 'skeptical', but never give into either left-brain-dominant cynicism NOR right-brain-dominant naivete, much like with 'The Force', this user believes in a healthy balance and has long likened their own self to the 'Gray Jedi'. Having said that, MOST PEOPLE are NOT Evil people! To believe in either capital-'G' Objective 'Good' versus capital-'E' Objective Evil is the dichotomy to ascribe to OR lowercase-'g' subjective 'good' versus lowercase-'e' subjective evil, because whilst people can come together and agree on what they disagree in good measure....what MarkCuban said on 'SharkTank' is equally true, in that one CANNOT Objectivize/define what is 'cool' to sell to the masses, that's part-and-parcel of 'supply-side economics', whereas DEMAND stimulates action/markets what with the division-of-labor. It's not an epistemological assertion for this user to say 'value is subjective in the eyes of the consumer, of which ALL are, as only a few become producers and/or distributors', but an a priori FACT from observation/the scientific method/praxeology.

Now...as for the first quoted lyrics by 'Rage', those appear to be aimed at the State's Military-Industrial-Complex former President DwightD.Eisenhower warned against, as the State is, ultimately, a competing form of expediency (recall the HenryDavidThoreau quote here) to the nuclear (given and chosen) FAMILY and religion ('Christianity' for the most part, but namely spiritualism/'HigherConsciousness' as a self-defense mechanism, since Marxism is the final form of organized religion, only without redemption arcs available and the State replacing the steeple, as it were; read 'TheIronWeb' by one LarkenRose and put down the trash by grifters the likes of TariqNasheed, AsataShakur, ShaunKing, and most especially IbramXKendi, please, and give these a read as well: https://old.reddit.com/r/GoldandBlack/comments/ruzm0t/the_equity_fallacy_why_unequal_outcomes_are_not/ and https://old.reddit.com/r/GoldandBlack/comments/mi99jg/understanding_the_proliferation_of_critical/)

And as far as their next quoted lyrics go, 'the beast' (wh0re-of-Babylon drunk off the blood of the Saints, et al) is fed not by weapons (as there's nothing wrong with self-defense and almost anything can be considered a 'weapon', as a tool has many uses, whilst a spoon may be primarily/best used for eating soup, a private investigator like 'JimRockford' of 'TheRockfordFiles' keeping one around doesn't make him a serial killer). See, Marxism and Statism is an Objectivization of Value, namely through coercion, for and by and of the most insecure who wishes for whomever that individual wants to attend their birthday party and to go to the birthday party of whomever that individual wishes and high-time-preference is tantamount to such a thing and practiced by such an individual.

In short: It's FINANCIAL, NOT POLITICAL. It's unsound money that feeds said 'beast', not weapons. So, this user and others are correct in 'Rage', while with well-intention, IMHO, a bit off-the-mark at the end.

'Skillet' is far better than Rage, try giving them a listen. And KanyeWest (not that this user agrees with everything he's said and done over the years, and thinks CandaceOwens is a nutjob and there's far, far better conservative/libertarian/AnCap Negroids out there to listen to, from the late, great WalterWilliams to CynthiaMcKinney to 'ThatGuyT' to 'SomeBlackGuy' to the HayesBrothers to the HodgeTwins to TreeOfLogic to DuncanClifton (https://odysee.com/@mises:1/an-evening-with-clifton-duncan:4), he's come around, for the most part, for the better in recent memory since biting the hand that fed him, because the Negroids -- from the Sirius star system, by the way -- are the chosen slave class of the new world order and they wish to maintain 'revolutionary energy', and such grifters didn't like MLK Jr. -- despite him not being as good as he's cracked up to be, same with not-so-Honest-Abe and many others revered with hagiographies in the mainstream media and edu-INDOCTRINATION system), WackaFlockaFlame, Pyrodagod, and LupeFiasco and the other people this user previously mentioned like EricJuly of 'BackWordz' (https://www.youtube.com/@youngrippa59 / https://www.youtube.com/@BackWordzMusic).

After glancing at 2-3 of "this user's" posts, that was my first thought.  Crazy how far it's come... still has a bit more to go.

Doesn't have to be intro.

Guess I was focused on the "Music Team Introduction" part of the title and not the "And More" portion.  I prefer the band during the game and not so much the piped in DJ stuff.

Right there with you on this preference, but I wouldn't mind one or two traditions like you see @ Wisconsin.  Pick a song and a specific part of the game.  Get something going with the student section.

Fair enough, I is only partially-tempted by the suggestions and was just being nice and trying to tie those into a gimmick, a la professional wrestling, like maybe, if going the Three-Six-Mafia route, creating mock-dollar bills like VinceMcMahonJr., his son ShaneO'Mac, John'Bradshaw/Hawk'Layfield, FloydMayweather, and KazuchikaOkada have done in the past and blowing it off into at least one part of the crowd (student/band section(s)....or rivals, for psychological warfare?) and with a business-mindset wanted to humor the ideas of 'going wild' as the wilderness is largely 'green' itself and an upside-down 'M'  and of pairing a southern team with a southern rockstar from the days most of the vocal posters on here are from as well.

Really, it all comes from the idea of using the opportunity of a new College Football video game to inspire a new tradition that could be incorporated into said game, which may inspire future (talented) athletes to come here and win, what with a new conference, coach, and playoffs structure on the horizon and all.

Exhibit A.
