Good for him. Got his degree at UNT. He will get a great degree at Cal. Additionally, he will get to play against P5 teams. What's funny is that he will probably be blocking the Murphy twins at some point.

Then you haven't been paying attention.  I think a lot of P5 teams would have been thrilled to swap TE rooms with us this past season.

You have to cut him some slack.  A great TE room and potent run game usually brings higher pass completion percentage and few interceptions.  Looking at our pass game numbers you wouldn't guess that we had a TE room many P5 teams would trade with us.   I think our WR room was really good for G5 also.

Our 3rd string tight end is good enough for P5?

This makes no sense to me.

Third string is really not a fair “title” for Alberding. I would call him our first string blocking TE. I don’t ever recall him being targeted with a pass.

We had at least 3 this year that are P5 good. Two are transferring out and have P5 offers.

Seems just about every G5 contributor is getting P5 interest. They're stacking talent and hoping to kill whatever parity existed.

Good point.

Bloesh is Cal’s OC.

Not their OC, Mike Bloesch (offensive line coach/run game coordinator), but I bet he helped open the door
