Visits are allowed to start tomorrow for players in the portal. I am under the impression North Texas will have some players on campus this week. This staff has been super active on twitter compared to past staff. Kids hit portal, and our coaches are in contact within hours with kids they are interested in. One problem right now is that we are super low on available scholarships. Right now, I believe we have 12 available scholarships. We have several outstanding scholarships offered as well. So, I see the staff being super careful with who they extend offers to. The AD and compliance office open back up today. So don't be surprised if some players jump in the portal in the coming days. It will not be the worst thing if some spots are cleared out. It will help the new roster be adjusted to the new staff’s schemes and what they are looking for in players. These are the offers that have been posted. There could be several offers that have not be announced on twitter. Portal recruiting tracking is different than HS recruiting tracking. Not every offer is posted. Also, one thing to consider is that just because a transfer signed an NIL on NSD, does not mean he can't be enrolled at UNT in 2 weeks. Portals are non-binding like HS and Juco kids. So don’t be shocked if we have a few surprises show up January 17th when classes fire back up.

Outstanding Offers as of today that have been announced:

Would you say the staff has made a big effort to recruit the team that already exists? I certainly expected more portal activity with a new coach. Are we still at risk for any big names that you know ?

I posed a similar question in the FB recruiting forum.  If it's not overly involved, can you explain why we have so few scholarships available?  How did we mortgage our future and how long do we need to live with what seems to be an annual limitation that other schools don't seem to have?

They changed the rules. Now you can only have your 85 scholarships. So not a problem that we have a full roster. Last staff kept recruiting younger talent instead of going grad transfer route. That plus the covid years has created a back log. We could have worse problems. I do think that once coaches are able to sit down and meet with players some players will test options.

I think that was priority number one. I know this staff has to be careful with who they offer. They are talking to a ton of kids. But until a spot opens you can't get in some big trouble throwing out offers for spots you don't have.

We have all the pieces offensively to be successful immediately. So keeping as many as we can here will be huge. QB remains the biggest question mark. Are we gonna have any transfer portal activity there? Or is there gonna be an in house solution?

IMO the most important piece going into next year

Disagree. Also there is several reasons why some of these don’t change. We have had scenario before where previous university has to give access to Twitter account. Like when you are hired they take ownership

Many coaches have accounts that have the schools name in them, not this one. Hard to believe UT could control his name being used on his account.

i too am disappointed by this and I've been looking at his account everyday anticipating changes.     regardless of the reason, if he is representing North Texas now, this should be updated

He’s been offering kids on UNT’s behalf, though.  It’s not a huge deal for me, but I could see why it might rub some the wrong way.  Excited to see what talent he brings in and develops for the guys in green!

Also want to say outside the SOC guys we offered, seeing these players and their offer lists doesn't look much better than Littrell.

How are we gonna have "top notch recruiters" and still be battling against the likes of Grambling State and Abilene Christian? Concerning to say the least

With all due respect, if we need recruits to see orange to follow him, then we hired the wrong man.

These guys are 1-2 years behind the recruiting curve with the '23 class.    They all came from programs that were recruiting a higher level kid that will ultimately end up here at North Texas.  So, their 'target list' and the work they had did coming in, isn't much of an advantage.  Establishing relationships going forward, will be the benefit.  But most of these '23 kids already have their mind made up based on work put in over the past 1-2 years from those recruiting them.   Does it mean we can still flip a marginal kid (P5/G5) now, we sure can.   And I bet there are discussions happening as we speak with some of those potential targets.   But don't expect the flood gates to open during this '23 class.

Sure I know that, but JD said they need to be selective with limited spots available. Why are we recruiting borderline FBS kids instead of solid G5 players? I know '23 is going to be disappointing because of the timing with the hire/staff hires. Just expected it to be different. Hopefully next year is more promising.

Which recruits are you concerned about?  It looks to me like most, if not all, have other G5 offers besides us.
