I am loving Coach Morris’ new staff, but have a concern that they are all very young.  Doesn’t he need to hire an older but wiser coach that could help him with experience?

This was also asked when Littrell was hired.

At the college level?

I agree, Bennett’s experience as a FBS head coach is vastly different than a guy who was the head coach of a random high school, charter school, or some 7 on 7 travel squad. If we are talking about hiring guys with head coaching experience it needs to be at the collegiate level or above whether that be D3, JUCO, or NFL. Todd Dodge had a boatload of head coaching experience as did much of his staff but it was all HS.

The names I am hearing he will have 3-5 guys on staff with HC experience. For reference I believe Phil Bennett was the only coach seth ever hired with HC experience.

Unless you are referring to FBS head coaching experience, you are forgetting Chuck Langston in the Littrell column. Jim Gush too. I could be missing more but those 2 came to mind.

My short answer to this question is "No." I want Coach Morris to hire the very best coaches/recruiters he can get. If that coach is 80, fine. If that coach is 23, fine. I don't care one bit how old the coaches on his staff are.

I also do not understand why anyone is concerned with how old the football staff is.  If you believe in Morris and most of us do in this honeymoon period, be happy with him getting the coaches he selects.

The important thing is the staff meshes together and it is seems to me that is more likely the closer they are in age.

I would be happy with a tandem of Methuselah and the Gerber's baby if they could coach and recruit.

PB's presence didn't do anything to get us over the hump.  I suppose you could say we only win 3 games if he is gone?

I like the idea of having a mentor to all the young'uns, but for various reasons it doesn't work sometimes.

It’s also possible to have a mentor that is not on the coaching staff. Clements was helping with tHe o line when Bloesch was the coach.  I’m also assuming EM can call people, too.
