I fail to see any big significance to the Mooney post.  He liked his coach, what is wrong with that?  I do hope NT can find a kicker as good as him, but it certainly won't be easy.

I wish Mayes well. He was #2 on my list of coaches I wanted to see retained behind Cobbs. The production of his position group speaks volumes but I think we are going to be fine.

Liking his coach would be stating how fortunate the team is that lands him.  Instead he decided to bash UNT’s decision making.  Reads like sour grapes to me.

It is sour grapes.  He’s just not mature enough to handle this disappointing turn.  When you are in the battle, it is hard to see the big picture.  We are going into the American and everyone can see that with the exception of a few players, we are not on equivalent talent footing.  Seth wasn’t fired nearly as much because his C’s and O’s were bad…he was fired because his kids didn’t develop, he wasn’t landing enough local kids, he struggled with PR, and he had a revolving door in the key positions in the coaches office.  Sorry Ethan can’t see those key elements.  At the end of the day, the talent didn’t execute, they got beat in all 3 phases, and they did t go 1-0 enough.

This account is getting more and more attention, getting credit because of that attention.  But he was never credible to begin with.

Some things are becoming less about how good you are at something, and more about how loud you are.

People need to stop looking at this account, but I know that's not going to happen.

Mayes is certainly a great coach, and had Morris chosen to keep him I'd have been happy about it. Morris is obviously planning on using his TE's in a different way, and Mayes just isn't going to be part of that plan. No hard feelings. Mooney will get over it and all will be good.

This is what it boils down to.   How fast can Morris get the guys to buy in, and is he a good coach?   If the answers are “quickly (as in year 1)”, and “Yes”, then we’re going to really like this staff, a lot.
