I never said I didn't want out of state recruits. I asked what's his connection to Texas. You know because the head coach said he wanted Texas ties and I didn't know his guys resume. BUT if you emphasize one state, Texas would be the one to do it. Texas HS football is the best in the world. You sound like a troll.

Yeah man well no matter what UNT does, it's not going to be able to keep 4 and 5 stars home when they are being recruited by schools like Penn State, Utah, USC, etc

Now imagine how much more competitive UNT would be if they were competing to out of state recruits against other G5 schools. Stealing recruits from other markets while doing your best to keep your own talent home

Dude 90 percent of the staff is from Texas. There's 49 other states when you look beyond Texas.

UNT may be one of the few schools in America that only recruits in Texas

Isn't that pretty much what every UNT fan wants and what every UNT coach has tried to do?

No.  If you believe this you are part of the negative energy we need to move away from.  We can be better.  Our history does not define us.

I fail to see how that is "negative energy" to keep DFW area talent home while at the same time stealing recruits from other markets.  Most people would call that "successful recruiting."

This stands out to me. The points given up in the offense heavy Big 12 and the total yards given up. We struggled with both of these in one of the worst divisions in College FB. I like the hire. He's a Pittsburgh guy, I imagine he's hard working and will recruit tough kids.

From his Iowa St Bio:

Caponi has helped the Cyclone defense rank third (25.9- 2019), second (21.4- 2020) and third (20.5, 2021) in the Big 12 in scoring defense in each of the last three seasons, all totals among the top-50 nationally

ISU’s total defense numbers have been just as stout. ISU was second in the league in 2020 (340.4) and 2021 (310.5). The Cyclones’ 2021 defensive effort ranked ninth nationally and was the lowest output by a Cyclone defense since 1984.

Before the TCU loss where the Iowa St defense gave up 62 points, their defense was averaging 16.5 points a game. If our defense could do that, man we would win so many games.

Iowa St struggles this past year were on offense, not defense. I think this will be a really good hire.

I drank too much green Kool Aid on this day.
