Where's his connection to Morris? I'm not seeing them crossing paths and no texas connections?

I believe they crossed paths under Holgerson if I am not mistaken sometime during his WVU stint.

This stands out to me. The points given up in the offense heavy Big 12 and the total yards given up. We struggled with both of these in one of the worst divisions in College FB. I like the hire. He's a Pittsburgh guy, I imagine he's hard working and will recruit tough kids.

From his Iowa St Bio:

Caponi has helped the Cyclone defense rank third (25.9- 2019), second (21.4- 2020) and third (20.5, 2021) in the Big 12 in scoring defense in each of the last three seasons, all totals among the top-50 nationally

ISU’s total defense numbers have been just as stout. ISU was second in the league in 2020 (340.4) and 2021 (310.5). The Cyclones’ 2021 defensive effort ranked ninth nationally and was the lowest output by a Cyclone defense since 1984.

Great hire. Coponi's secondary only gave up 178 yards a game last season. Overall, Iowa State's defense was tops in the Big 12 and 7th best in all of college football. Home run for Morris!!!

That’s impressive.  I would guess we gave up much more than that last season.

3-3-3 with 2 safeties.

Their d  lineman shoot the gaps (weakest position) and is cleaned up by linebackers and safeties.

Come back KD!

Richards may move to LB
