I dont think SMU or T-A&M announced their deals until last summer, after a lot of players committed.  This is really the first major transfer window that has those big cash offers from schools are on the table.

All I heard out of smuT this time last year was they had just picked up a big transfer from Alabama that was going to run roughshod over everyone.  Did he even play?  Don't care.  All we can do is water our grass.

That is a BIG win for Rice. Not sure its enough though.

Hasn't this kid been at UGA, USC, WV, and now going to Rice?  Wonder why he is moving around so much.  Has to be a reason.

He'll get a good education and get to live here in Houston, other than that, how many Rice QBs go to the NFL?

Only one that I can remember and that was seventy years ago.  His name was Tobin Rote and he may have been the only quarterback to lead his team to both an NFL and AFL title.

Wasn’t Tommy Kramer a Rice guy??

I classify this as all entertaining noise.  Usually transfers from P5 programs have only proved they couldn't break into a starting role at the school they came from.   Nothing but getting consensus 4 & 5 star prospects get my interest or a P5 starter leaving for family considerations.  Keeping the maximum we can from current roster and early commits is the most important right now in my opinion.  We don't have a bad roster on offense and I believe better coaching on defense could get them to play more consistent.
