That’s just not true.  My very super ultra reliable source says the Mean Green are named after this guy.

I always thought we were named from MIckey's Mean Green Malt liquor.  When I was student and bought one six pack of that and that was enough.

when did fry street change to ave. A?  was at the bar today and saw the street sign by public house was avenue A.

I had a business at 119 Avenue A. I bought an ad in the Yellow Pages (look up Yellow Pages).  The ad came out 

“119 Avea.  Across from the Unit Language Building.”
 

I got a discount on the balance of that year.
