I normally prefer defensive minded coaches  but I can’t help but be intrigued with the 578 yards per game his UIW team is putting up.  And he knows how to promote and sell his program.  He would have been a good one.

My mother knows GJ, his father and Todd Graham(his former boss at Hawaii) as she is originally from Mesquite like they are. She says the family and him wanted to be back up here but didn’t think UNT would be open plus he liked that he could completely build Texas State up the way he wants with a complete rebuild and the low expectations were nice as he will get more time.

Want to give a big shoutout to @El Paso Eagle and @p_phelps for calling this back in December.

First year coach GJ Kinne just took Texas State to Waco and pulled off a G5/P5 upset vs Baylor. Apparently this was the 30-something former Incarnate Word HC we should have hired.

I tip my cap to you fellas. You have my respect.

That was who I preferred, between him and Morris, as I’ve met him and hes a good guy. Plus I like his aggressiveness and his history of success as a HC at Incarnate Word. Hes from up here, my mother went to HS with his parents, and his mother told mine that they wanted him to stay in Texas and preferred him up here..well coming up here to UNT obviously didn’t happen. Glad he had a great first game at Tx St but I question how good Baylol is as they were pretty bad last year. Time will really tell who was the better hire, but as of now its Kinne

This was my guy... he made the right moves,  hit the portal hard! Then get HS kids. Morris did the opposite.  HS kids are gonna be a bit to develop.

That’s right. We waste 2 years developing high school kids and then they jump into the portal as soon as they’ve developed their skills.
We’ve been stuck in this pattern for some time.

It’s a losing proposition. And yet we never learn.
