MGN in Arlington

We sent a guy to UTA to write about the game. MGN is a blog and not really a beat-reporter type of gig. Alex Kelly has written for D Magazine and will be doing some stuff for MGN soonish. But I wanted to put you all onto this little dip into the hoops beat. We'll be turning up the coverage. The podcast, the writing, the analysis, etc.

[NT80]

Nice report.  I saw several NT games on the old UTA "Stage" at Texas Hall.  I have not made out it to their new arena.  For $80 million we got Apogee Stadium and they got this 7,000 seat arena.  I don't understand them curtaining-off the upper deck and make it look like a junior college arena?  Maybe that's the image they want, lol?   The fans on TV seemed spread out or socially distanced, with more empty seats than full rows.

I thought the stage had character, but they are lucky some player didn't die there. 

The new facility is very nice but is built like most of the new cookie-cutter arenas, still reminds me of a McDonald's.  I think it is the lighting.

If they can't sell enough tickets, it looks better curtained off. But they still have trouble selling the lower bowl... I jumped through the replay and noticed the crowd mic was not turned up very high. Not sure if they have multiple, but UTA seemed louder than us on the broadcast, but in the arena I thought our crowd dominated.

yeah that could be acoustics, but yeah there is always a chance the crowd mic for the UTA people was either better-placed, or the mix guy was favoring them.
