He would’ve been fired after being ranked in the top 25?

Yea but based off the last 3 years “ body of work” he is only 500. It doesn’t matter what you did or what you are going to do, win now determines your future.

Glad Fritz took GT because with your rationale he would of been fired.

Is Fritz limping into a conference championship game at 7-5 with the third best overall record in his conference? He's 10-2. Hardly the same kind of improvement. That said, if Fritz had been fired last season at 2-10, would anybody have batted an eye? With your rationale, you never fire anybody for the off chance they go +8 in wins from one year to the next.

But there’s a difference between 7-5 in CUSA and 10-2 in the CURRENT AAC and top 25 though…

I would guess if Littrell was 10-2 and ranked in the top 25 this year, that would change the thoughts on Littrell’s body of work

but he’s never done that…

I know everyone keeps talking about the bowl game in relation to SL’s status. Honestly, I don’t think it’s even going to matter. My guess is the decision about whether or not to move on happens after the UTSA game. I think if he wins, he stays. If he loses, he’s gone. If he loses, the talking point will be that our expectations are conference championships and he’s just not been able to get us there. I think that’s fair to all parties.

This would be a relevant point if we were ranked in the top 25, ever.

I think we lose Bennet this year because he had two-year contract.

Which brings up another issue.  If Bennet decides to hang up his yellow coach's shirt for good, and Seth stays, is Littrell capable of hiring an adequate Defensive Coordinator?

Exactly... I would have been ok with 9-3 heading into UTSA due to the potential of going 11-3 but I just don't see how 1 game above .500 by season's end cuts it. Our best case scenario is 9-5. Sure, it would mean a conference championship win but it's watered down by us getting there at 7-5, IMO. I realize it's the conference record that matters and ours is good at 6-2 but that's just a factor of our poor conference. I wouldn't have been upset about the OOC losses if we dominated our conference but we didn't. We collapsed against UTSA, got smoked by a 6-6 UAB, and struggled with a 5-7 Rice. We've got good players who deserve better. Time to move on.
