Olympic events that shouldn't be Olympic events

I was just going through the results so far and I noticed that WALKING is an Olympic event. WALKING?!?!?

What are some other events that shouldn't be held at the Olympics?

There was a long article a little bit back in SI about a walker. Needless to say, I passed on it.

Ballroom Dancing and Synchronized Swimming always get beat up in these discussions, as well they should.

My last class I ever took at North Texas was Coaching Track and Field. We had to teach an olympic event to the class. I taught walking. I had the whole class actually do 1 lap (400 M ) of competative walking. Believe it or not it was the athletes on the NT Track team that won easily, even though I figured that we all would have been somewhat close since we were just walking.

Don't slam it...I've watched a ton of batminton. It's fun as hell to watch.

Copetitive race walking is actually really hard. There's certain rules that restrict your movement...it looks damn uncomfortable. The 20K race was on last night/this morning on MSNBC.

It's basically gymanstics on a tampoline. So yeah, tricks. They also have to stay in the middle or they get docked. I remember them showing about 10-15 minutes of coverage during the Sydney Olympics.

I'm still waiting for thumb wrestling to be added to the long list of summer sports in the Olympics.

I really hope wushu makes as an official sport in 2008. It is a truly amazing to watch.
