Yes, if he wins both you can’t get rid of a 9 game winner.

That's sort of how I was thinking as well.  We'd be the laughing stock of college football and the next guy we hired would automatically be a bust.

If we wait until see what happens at the UTSA game most of the coaches will be gone to other schools.  I was reading an article and the coaches were all saying if you are going to fire someone you have to early because of the portal.  I know we are gong to the championship game but it will be to late to let him go after that game.

Let him finish his contract.  Extend him mid 2023 season if he beats SMU and has no more than 2 losses by mid-season.   If they go out there and having convincing win against UTSA it would be the START of him showing any promise of being competitive with the better teams in the new AAC.

I disagree. You can wait until next Saturday to fire him. However, if we wake up next Sunday and he hasn’t been fired, then he’s ours for another year. Because everything you said about being too late is 100% true if you apply it to bowl games. You absolutely can not wait until after a bowl game to fire a coach.

Serious question, has any team fired a coach immediately following a loss in their conference championship game?

I don’t know, but I wouldn’t mind being the first.

Kinda simple to me - if your ok with .500 keep him by all means - want something more - get a new leader. Oh and going .500 moving into next year will be much tougher in the American as we all know.
Hope good things for Seth but think we are in a bit of a funk and sometimes you just have to pull the pin !
