DRC: UNT-Rice gameday -- Mean Green aiming for C-USA title game berth in showdown with Rice

I believe that a win over Rice, UTSA and the bowl opponent are Seth's only chance of returning.  But, if he's able to do that it seems that it would be virtually impossible to release him unless Wren already has another coach under contract (or nearly so).  Wren can't wait until the end of the season and then expect to get a decent coach.

Winning the conference championship over a ranked opponent keeps his job.

Doing that will have him: winning conf champ along with winning against a ranked team twice and beating an SEC school during his tenure..

I think the last two items are something that previously only happened back in the 70s and are pretty much the only major accomplishments mentioned on this board for the program's entire history.

Does it excuse his overall ~.500 record? No.  But perspective needs to be maintained.

The ONLY exception to this is if WB already has a home-run hire completed, but in that case, nothing would save his job.
