Take a look at these programs new to FBS post 2001.  Notice anything?  The 0.500 coach with no bowl wins, no conference championship, never earned home conference championship game appearance we are debating his future here.  Seth with coaching tenure advantage against all these teams he has played has lost to all of them he has played under those conditions except FIU.  Winless against Charolette, beaten whenever conference championship is on the line against UTSA.

My recollection is we only played 3 of these teams this season. We beat 2 by 3 scores or more and the other we lost against the defending champion on effectively the last play of the game.

I was disgusted we lost to UAB because we should have won that game but I’m not going to act like we are Charlotte or FIU bad.

This covering Seth's whole tenure.  And listing these young programs and how coaches at these programs have exceeded anything Seth has done here is the point.

Coaches at these programs have done or are currently doing more with than what Seth has here.  Seth is a mediocre coach that most likely would have done worse at these programs new to FBS.

Seth has lost to Charlotte and ODU. Both were embarassing losses that he should've won. We know he's lost to utsa multiple times. And he was annihilated, woodshed style, by Lane Kiffins FAU x2..

He hasn't lost to the others simply because he hasn't played them. But make no mistake, CC, Ga State, USF, and USA have all fielded multiple teams during SL tenure at UNT that would come in and dog doodoo on our heads.

Yes, UNT has a better program than FIU. Thanks, Seth. We aren't FiU.

He’s also beaten UTSA and FAU multiple times…

Just curious. Why do think we should have won this game? UAB was favored.

Because we have the talent and scheme, we just made too many mistakes. We were down 14 and answered with 21 straight. When we got up and started to be conservative and go run heavy they should’ve put the Stone Earle package out there. Our defense got really tired and it was clear we were missing Kadren Johnson pretty bad as the others wore down.

Before the defection of the 3 this year, there were 14 teams in C-USA.  In the previous six years of Littrell's tenure, here are the eight schools that have made it to the conference championship game:

FAU 2-0

UAB 2-1

WKU 1-1

UTSA 1-0

UNT 0-1

LaTech 0-1

Marshall 0-1

MTSU 0-1

Three schools (FAU, UAB and WKU have made multiple appearances).  UTSA will join this group.  UNT will also join this group if we take care of business next week.  In 2020, UAB advanced to the conference championship only playing 4 conference games and finishing with a 3-1 record in the west.  Marshall did them one better playing 5 conference games games and finishing with a 4-1 record in the east.  This is why I put an * next to the 2020 season.

When this season concludes, it will be the 7th of Littrell's tenure.  Again assuming we win next Saturday, we will make our 2nd appearance out of 7 seasons - 28% of the time (or 2 out of 6 - 33% of the time if we throw away 2020).  Will we go 0-2 or 1-1?  Likewise, will UTSA go 2-0 or 1-1?  Who knows, that's why we play the game.

And seriously, enough of the if you don't agree with me, you are accepting mediocrity or accepting failure.  It diminishes the argument.  I hope no one is accepting or striving for that.  I believe everyone here wants to win every game we play.

Some have obviously made up their minds about Littrell and will let everyone know how they feel whenever they get the chance.  I'm willing to let the rest of the story play out and wait to see what Mr. Baker decides.

Decisions are made by external pressures. Otherwise, AD's would sit on their hands and cash checks, like many already unfortunately do.

We are, as this tenure suggests, are in an "up" year. By that standard, our up seasons will be 7-5ish. As the seasons go by, 17 and 18 are looking and feeling more and more flukey. By that, it's difficult to just sit back and openly accept what's going on. It becomes that much more difficult to accept as moving into a more competitive conference looms.

But, I guess, this all goes away if UNT wins 3 in a row to end the season. But I think our problems will still exist as SL has proven he's not really a recruiter. And if you can't recruit, you can have success with consistency.

They went run heavy because we can't stop the run.In fact, it looked like the UNLV game. The week before they lost to UTSA in double overtime with their back up QB. He returned , plus this was a must win game for them to become bowl eligible. After this weeks loss to LSU they need to beat La. Tech there to be 6 & 6. We really are not very good . WK is the only team we have beaten with a winning record this year which is the norm under Littrell . We beat the bottom feeders of CUSA plus a 1AA home game to get to 5 or 6 wins.
