I suspect Littrell will be gone if he loses to Rice or UTSA, but he won't be terminated before the season ends.

While everyone apparently likes to blame everything on Littrell, the players lost this game.  Aune went back to his usual inconsistent game and was ineffective despite UAB loading the box and daring NT to throw.

Littrell obviously recognized Aune ineffectiveness by continually calling running plays against a stacked to stop the run defense.

NT's defense couldn't stop anything in the second half as UAB's runners broke tackle after tackle.  Nothing like averaging about 5 yard a carry after the player is stopped as UAB pushed the defense down the field.

UTSA wanted this game a lot more than NT.

If you’re going to move on, you do so directly after the game the decision is made.   He cannot be here for the bowl game if he doesn’t win the CCG.    Period.

The ultimate blame lies on those who built this team. Those who recruited/lost recruitment battles, and who coached/developed those players. Losing a game here and there because a player makes a mistake happens, but your overall body of work is made up of what you were able to bring here and how you made it perform on the field.

Yep - I think he’s gone after the next loss (bowl game not withstanding)

Beat Rice and UTSA, offer an extension. Lose one of the two, interim coach for the remainder of the year.

Let's be honest about this loss. UNT lost because Littrell and company got out-coached. UAB made the halftime adjustments and scored 24 points in the second half, while UNT didn't and scored 0 points. Our players either didn't do what they were told... were never told to do what they needed to do... or didn't understand what they were being told to do. Any way you slice it, our players didn't make the plays, and the blame falls on our coaches. You can't polish a turd. This loss is what it is.

UNT is still a team that is not ready to compete against an AAC schedule next year. Beating the crap out of FIU last week was great, but it was just FIU. WKU (7-4) is still the only winning team Littrell and company have beaten this season. And, 3 of our 5 loses were to teams that currently have records of .500 or worse. Only 3 of C-USA's 11 teams have winning records right now. And only 3 teams on our 12 game schedule currently have winning records. Even with this incredibly weak schedule, we are struggling to back into a spot in the conference title game. Every Mean Green fan should be concerned about what we saw today.

Your first 2 sentences sum up Seth’s coaching career along with managing time outs. I will never forget the La Tech game after we drummed Arkansas. Beat Rice and UTSA and Seth is back in the picture. If not Cobb can coach the bowl game!

Ding. Ding. Ding. 100%.

Recruit better. Texas State, UTEP, Rice (given the kid isn't a brainiac), and 0 lower level teams than us should ever land a kid we would like in our state. Then, we actually have to start battling for kids that smu, uh, utsa, etc. are after and actually land them here and there.

Getting Deion in here, he would start to make major headway with local kids and our classes would be amazing. His prowess + our facilities + us moving to the AAC = no brain hire.

We are on the same page. But I do believe that if he wins the next 3 (don’t think he will) and gets to 9 he won’t be fired. Nothing will be announced until after the championship game b/c the buyout drops again.

We will all but certainly be a 7-6 conference runner-up going into a bowl game in SL's SEVENTH year as HC. That's not getting it done. Time to cut bait. Unless significant amount of money can be saved by keeping him until seasons end, there is 0 reason to hang on to him.

It was time to cut bait last year.  Everyone not letting factors that have no bearing on whether a team win or not cloud their judgment wanted him gone at the end of last season.  The only unexpected “positive" thing this year was the win against WKU.   One game below or above 0.500 was this team's ceiling with Seth coaching and Aune starting.    He would coach here another 7 years with top of conference resources and not get into a conference championship game if they paid him top dollar to do so.
