Lyrics:
To fallen soldiers let us sing
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the mansions of the Lord

#No more bleeding, no more fight
No prayers pleading through the night
Just divine embrace, eternal light
In the mansions of the lord
#Where no mothers cry
And no children weep
We shall stand and guard through the angels sleep
While through the ages safely keep
The mansions of the lord.

🇺🇸•••Thank you Veterans.

This being the day of remembrance coming out of WW 1, my family's participation in this "event" was my grandfather "Ira F. Lane" Corporal, Company H, 359th Infantry, the Texas/Oklahoma division "The Tough Ombres". He was inducted into service at Wolfe City.
From "Wiki"........World War I
The 359th Infantry Regiment was constituted for World War I at Camp Travis, Texas, on August 5, 1917, as a unit of the National Army. It was organized in September and assigned to the 180th Infantry Brigade, a unit of the 90th Division.  After completing individual and collective training, the regiment served in France during the war, including duty in the Villers-en-Haye, Battle of Saint-Mihiel, duty in the Puvenelle Sector of Lorraine, and the Meuse–Argonne offensive. The regiment remained in Europe for post-war occupation duty following the Armistice of November 11, 1918 and was demobilized at Camp Bowie, Texas on June 24, 1919.
When my grandfather was discharged (honorably) it was noted on his form "729 A.G.O" that he was "slightly wounded". My mother said that that "slight" wound was him being gassed. He never discussed his "war adventures" with his daughters. The ones who (as the Patton character said in the movie "Patton") "felt the sting of battle", rarely did.

An excellent movie to watch today would be "The Best Years of Our Lives" It is being featured on TCM at 7PM tonight.
Have a "reflective" day.
