Definite improvements since the Memphis game. First goal is get bowl eligible. You have to do that before you do do anything else. Next, get in the conference championship game. Third, win the conference. Fourth, win the bowl game. All four goals are still possible.

Actually the very first goal should always be to win Conference. A bowl game should never be your first goal.
That makes you set your sights on 6 wins and a loss is less important when you subtract that from the remaining  games on your schedule needed to reach the magic 6. It’s leads to mediocrity.
No! Always set the goal for a Conference Title and should you fall short more than likely you will get a bowl game.

I'm not sure how you win 8 or more games and then win an additional conference championship game without winning six first. You have to win six to get to seven. You have to win seven to eight. If you don't win the six first, you'll never get into the conference championship game. If you don't get into the conference championship game, you can't win the conference. It's basic goal setting - somethings must happen before others are possible.

Shoot for the stars first. If you only hit the moon you're still doing great.

I agree with @meangreenbob. Aim as high as possible first. That should always be your target
